Les Halles

Ask Google about Les Halles, they will tell you straightaway like this: “home base of Chef-at-large Anthony Bourdain.” It’s not necessary for me to explain who is the ex-bad boy Chef who known for his “Kitchen Confidential” and  “No Reservation.”

Les Halles is a French Brasserie who serves typical French Bistro food with no gimmick, no fancy plating, and no complicated stuff.  It is famous for its “no-nonsense” food. For me, this place is all about good food. That’s it, fullstop.

Bread and Butter

Moules Mariniere: Mussels, White wine, Shallot, Garlic

 Steak, Frites, Salade

Noixde St. Jacques Poelees au Champagne: Pan seared scallops with champagne cream sauce

 Cream Brulee

Like what I said, no gimmick, no nonsense, every part of these dishes cooked the way you want it to be. Mussel, white wine, shallot, and garlic were never go wrong. The scallops? Oh man, I’m the one who had this. And it was mind blowing. Every single piece of scallops were cooked to perfection, the sauce was well balanced. The steak was juicy, tasty, fries were great, what else?

You might say I’m too exaggerating on this. If that the case, maybe I was just lucky all my plates were perfect. But still this is one of the best “no-bullshit” French cooking in New York.
